The ever lovable, entertainer, and musician Ingrid Michaelson took the stage right around 9:20 last night here in Cleveland, Ohio.  It was going to be a special night for her fans, and herself as well, as they were setup to film this show for a future DVD. All of the cameras however didn’t seem to bother Ms. Michaelson as she had some fun with the camera guys.  She also informed everyone to be at their best because they may make it into the new DVD.

Now I’m going to admit that I don’t know much about her, her band, or her music, but I’m always open to new fresh music, and I keep an open ear.  Now some bands you hope finish as quick as they started, but not this one.  I wanted it to last and last.  Ms. Michaelson not only sang like an angel, but she kept on entertaining the crowd.  After her opening song she noticed someone in the audience holding what appeared to be a balloon replica of Ingrid, well at least they tried to make it look like her (see the photos).  Upon noticing this inflatable creature, she asked if it was for her, and the crowd of fans encouraged the holder of the inflated mini Ingrid to pass it forward, and shortly after that, the thing was on stage.  She graciously thanked the person who made it.

Ingrid said it would be great to have a television show about herself and this inflatable twin.  She said it could be called me & me, the crowd laughed.  She placed the thing next to the drum kit and continued her show.

Her second song, ‘”Soldier” was intriguingly interesting as she belted out a mix of Lady GaGa’s “Poker Face” midway through the song.  I would say she got a standing ovation when the song ended, but nobody was sitting, they were all standing, seeming somewhat mesmerized but the amount of talent that they were witnessing.

To continue with the entertainment she made sure that audience participation was a big part of the show, she tried to get everyone to play along as well as sing along.   She had the band come forward and help her sing the song “You and I” where she alone played the ukulele and had the band sing different parts of the song.  She also has the crowd sing along, and they happily did.  She then had the band leave the stage for some intimate moments.  Ingrid picked up her ukulele for a small set of ‘uk-coustic’ and unplugged songs.  One of those songs was a cover of Radiohead’s “Creep”.  It was one of those solos where when she finished, you wanted more.  It was simply amazing.  Her Renaissance ukulele might just get as famous as that Hofner bass the Paul McCartney plays…time will tell.

The show was fantastic.  There are not enough words to explain the amount of entertainment you received if you went to the show.  She stole the show.  If you didn’t go to the show, smack yourself and ask ‘what the f#@% was I thinking!’

I was thoroughly satisfied and can’t wait for the next time around.

Later.
M
