Burbank, CA – Current Spin magazine cover stars Muse have scored their first No. 1 single with “Uprising,” which currently sits atop the Mediabase Alternative Rock radio chart. The track is the first single from the band’s upcoming brand-new album The Resistance, which will be introduced to the public via an exclusive listening party on MySpace on September 10th in the U.S. and worldwide via iLike from September 11th through the 13th. The album, which was produced by Muse and mixed by famed audio engineer Mark ‘Spike’ Stent, will be released on September 15th by Warner Bros. Records.

The British trio will perform “Uprising” at the 2009 MTV Video Music Awards on September 13th. Additionally, the band will be special guests at select shows for U2, including two shows at Giants Stadium in New York, on September 23rd and 24th.

For the last few years, Muse, which is vocalist/guitarist Matt Bellamy, bassist Chris Wolstenholme, and drummer Dom Howard, have played to sell-out crowds throughout the U.S., Asia, Australia, and Europe (including two nights at the legendary Wembley Stadium) in support of their previous album Black Holes and Revelations, which debuted at Number 9 on Billboard’s album chart in July 2006. In the U.S., the band, who hail from the tiny town of Teignmouth in Devon, England, performed at the Lollapalooza Festival, the Austin City Limits Music Festival, Las Vegas’s Vegoose Festival, and KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas and sold out New York City’s Madison Square Garden and The Forum in Los Angeles.
