NORTH ELEMENTARY:

POX WORLD EMPIRE TO RELEASE ‘BERANDALS’ ON AUGUST 7, 2007

THIRD ALBUM BY “ONE OF THE GREATEST BANDS IN THE WHOLE FREAKING WORLD ” – JANE MAGAZINE

New York, NY: North Elementary have outdone themselves yet again.
This August 7th 2007 brings the third release from the Chapel Hill NC band - ‘Berandals’- out on NC indie label Pox World Empire. Born on southern porches, big red couches and inside mansions, the album features six songs full of sprawling melodies, spaced out rock riffs, thoughtful lyrics and a vast array of instruments (including horns, a transistor radio, walkie talkies, strings, piano and more). Think along the lines of the Flaming Lips covering Grandaddy and Dinosaur Jr meets Sparklehorse at a Mercury Rev show prior to the turn of the century. Main songwriter and front man John Harrison, ex-founding member of the psych rock band The Comas, has come into full stride with ‘Berandals,’ proving that his decision to leave his former band in early 2001 was indeed a wise choice for his musical growth.

Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers Announce Summer Tour with O.A.R. and Augustana in Support of their Highly Anticipated New CD Glassjaw Boxer – Out July 10th on Everfine Records New York, NY – Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers announce a summer tour with O.A.R. and Augustana in support of their highly anticipated new CD Glassjaw Boxer – out July 10th on Everfine Records.  In addition to the O.A.R. dates, the group will be playing select dates this summer with Canadian folk rock band Great Big Sea, have an exclusive September date with legendary American power pop group The Romantics and are gearing up for a fall headlining tour of the U.S. Glassjaw Boxer was produced by Mike Daly of Whiskeytown with mixing help from Dave Bryson of the Counting Crows. Mike Daly along with Caitlin Cary (Whiskeytown) and Marc Roberge (O.A.R.) each lend their vocals to a track, complimenting Kellogg’s heartfelt songs and distinctive voice.  As strummed acoustic and electric guitars share space with accordions, trumpets, and soaring lap steel, Kellogg crafts an impassioned set of music that is not observed from a distance, but intimately experienced.    Grammy Award Winner Roseanne Cash has called Stephen Kellogg a “classic songwriter…with a unique voice and enormous potential,” and Glassjaw Boxer is only further proof that Stephen Kellogg & the Sixers are here to stay.
